Hey! Say! JUMP‘s “Precious Girl” bows at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated July 17, after selling 277,081 CDs in its first week and coming in at No. 1 for sales and look-ups, No. 15 on Twitter mentions, and No. 24 for radio airplay.
“Rain” by Sekai no Owari (known as End of the World in the U.S.) rises from No.5 to No. 2, falling short of the top spot due to Hey! Say! JUMP incredible CD sales figures but doing well in other indexes, coming in at No. 1 for streaming, No. 2 for CD sales and digital downloads, No. 3 for radio and look-ups, and No. 10 for Twitter.
Veteran rock band Bump of Chicken‘s digital single “Kinen Satsuei,” which is being used in Nisshin’s Cup Noodles TV commercials, debuted at No. 3 this week, coming in at No. 1 for downloads by a substantial margin and also No. 6 for radio, No. 21 for Twitter, and No. 31 for YouTube and GYAO! video views.
This year’s breakthrough band Suchmos‘ “Wiper,” the first single after starting their own record label, rockets to No. 7 from No. 58, where they debuted last week. Radio airplay (No. 1) and CD sales (No. 6) were strong drivers in boosting the song’s ranking, surpassing their former record of No. 10 for their long-running hit “Stay Tune.”
